It All Begins With You (spoken)
© 2010 John Paul Taylor, Jr.

Every living thing on the Earth has got its place
On this little blue planet spinning around in space
But some things we do are causing harm
And it’s time for us to sound the alarm
There’s only so much she can take
Before the Earth begins to break
It’s up to us to turn it around
And plant some new seeds in the ground
To clean the water and the air
And protect the things that we all share
We’ve got the power to see it through
And now, it all begins - with you!

Every Living Thing

Every living thing on the Earth has got its place
On this little blue planet that’s spinning around in space
Yeah, every living thing on the Earth is meant to be
From the birds in the sky, to the fish down in the sea
Eins, zwei, drei / uno, due, tre
Un, deux, trois / one, two, three
And we’re all singing for the Earth from Australia
To Asia and Africa
Antarctica and Europe and North and South America
And even out on the water the sailors
Are catching the notion
From Atlantic to Pacific and the Arctic and Indian Oceans
Ichi, ni, san / ahdeen, dvah, tree
Uno, dos, tres / one, two, three
Every living thing on the Earth has a role to play
As day turns to night, and night once again to day
Yeah, every living thing here on Earth needs a place to be
And deserves a chance to live, like you and me
Un, deux, trois / uno, due tre
Eins, zwei, drei / one, two, three
And we’re all singing for the Earth from Australia
To Asia and Africa
Antarctica and Europe and North and South America
And even out on the water the sailors
Are catching the notion
From Atlantic to Pacific and the Arctic and Indian Oceans
Ichi, ni, san / ahdeen, dvah, tree
Uno, dos, tres / one, two, three
Un, deux, trois / uno, due tre
Eins, zwei, drei / one, two, three

The Rain Forest Song
© 2010 John Paul Taylor, Jr.

Here’s our song about a place
That’s threatened by the human race
Want to let you know, want to let you know
Tropical rain falls on tropical trees
The tropical rain forest won’t you please
Help us save it now, help us save it now
Ooh, it gives us air to breathe
Ooh, the animals call it home
Ooh, its medicines help you and me
Ooh, help us save it before it’s gone
They burn and cut it down to farm
But we all know it’s doing harm
To the animals, there’s no place to go
Monkey’s rush from tree to tree
Calling out for their family
Fire’s coming now, must escape somehow
Ooh, it gives us air to breathe
Ooh, the animals call it home
Ooh, its medicines help you and me
Ooh, help us save it before it’s gone
All the birds in all the trees
Every insect and every leaf
Is important, too, here’s what we must do
Tell everybody that it’s not okay
To let the forests just burn away
Got to say it loud, got to say it proud!
(chorus)

Rise to the Challenge
© 2010 John Paul Taylor, Jr.

Sometimes you meet the nicest people
On the read to conservation
They know there’re lots of worries
For the planet and the nation
But they keep on working
For the water and the air
And the land that needs saving
They all want to do their share

(chorus)
We either rise to the challenge
Or look away and take what happens
Either way it’s gonna be
The way it’s gonna be
We’ve gotta rise to the challenge
To keep the wild places wild
Keep the city in the city
And save some space for being free
Rise to the challenge

We gotta get back to nature
While there’s time
We’ve drifted so very far
Across the line
And there’s a real danger
Of losing track of who we are
We’ve let ourselves be taken
Taken way too far

(chorus)

When we rise to the challenge
Not just sit back and take what happens
Then the way it’s gonna be
Will be up to you and me
Yeah, when we rise to the challenge
We take control of what happens
Then the way it’s gonna be
Is the way we make it be
Rise to the challenge

Conservation Nation
© 2010 John Paul Taylor, Jr.

Now you and I, we’re just two
And there’s so much work to do
Gotta clean the mess we’ve made on Planet Earth
Gotta turn this world around
Plant new seeds in the ground
Gonna give it all we’re worth for Planet Earth

(chorus)
This is our declaration of a whole new family
a Conservation Nation and it starts with you and me
a Conservation Nation
Ooooh, ooooh
a Conservation Nation starts with me and you

We’ve taken from the ground
So many trees cut down
Gotta pay it all back now to Planet Earth
Gotta make it green again
Gotta make it clean again
Gotta give it all we’re worth  for Planet Earth

(chorus)

(bridge)
Some say that it’s too late
to turn this world around
But when we come together,
what was lost before can be found

Now you and I we’re just two
of a so much larger crew
Gonna do what we can do for Planet Earth
Gonna turn this world around
Plant new seeds in the ground
Gonna give it all we’re worth for Planet Earth

(chorus)

Interdependence Day
© 2010 John Paul Taylor, Jr.

Now what I do, affects you
And the things you do affect me
Whether you live around the corner
Or way across the sea

On a map there may be boundaries
But they’re not really there
What’s really true is me and you
Have a planet that we share

I know the day is coming
I can feel it in the air
There’s gonna be a celebration
And everyone will be there - be there!

(chorus)

On Interdependence Day
The bells will ring and there’ll be singing
We’re gonna celebrate the way
We’ve come together
On Interdependence Day
We’ll stand as sisters and as brothers
And everyone can say
We’re truly one
When we finally find our way
On Interdependence Day

You might think we’re not connected
Cause we live so far apart
But the distances between us
On this planet we call ours

Don’t really make a difference
It doesn’t matter that they’re there
Because you know the wind that blows
Brings us air that we all share

And the rains that fall upon us
Wherever we may be
Remind us we’re connected
As one big family, you and me

(chorus 2X)

We’ve Got the Power
© 2010 John Paul Taylor, Jr.

Nothing lasts forever
Everything must change
And for some things we do, you know it’s true
It’s time to turn the page

We’ve taken from the Earth so long
And left a lot of holes
We’ve cut and burned the forests
And used the oil and coal…
It’s time to stop the taking
And let our planet heal
You know we’ve got the power
To make it become real…

We’ve got power from the wind
Power from the sun
Power for the people
Each and every one
We’ve got the power
We’ve got the power
We’ve got the power
We’ve got the power

We’re all planetary passengers
On this spaceship Earth
As we travel on our journey
We’re learning what it’s worth
It’s time to come together
And help our planet heal
You know we’ve got the power
To make it become real…

(chorus)

We’ve got the power
We’ve got the power
We’ve got the power
We’ve got the power

I Can Make a Difference
© 2010 John Paul Taylor, Jr.

In this big world it’s easy to feel small
Like whatever you do won’t make a difference at all
You see it everyday, it’s what all the people say
But I’m here to tell you, don’t believe that it’s true

Because I, I can make a difference in this world
And I’m like no one else, man or woman, boy or girl
And what I dream, I can make into reality
Yes, I can make a difference in this world, just wait and see

The pictures on the news, babies with no food
Fighting in the streets and people with no shoes
It’s always been that way, that’s what all the people say
Nothing you can do, don’t believe that it’s true

Because you, you can make a difference in this world
And you’re like no one else, man or woman, boy or girl
And what you dream, you can make into reality
Yes, you can make a difference in this world, just wait and see

And as the world is turning, the forests keep on burning
The animals are dying, has everyone stopped trying?
You see it everyday now, we’ve got to find a way now
I know there must be somehow, oh won’t you help me find out?

Because we, we can make a difference in this world
And we’re like no one else, man or woman, boy or girl
And what we dream, we can make into reality
Yes, we can make a difference in this world - you and me
